Midea R32 M thermal Arctic Mono fault HF

Refrigerant system EEPROM error

Heat pump

What it means

Error code 54. Refrigerant system EEPROM error detected by user interface and refrigerant system main PCB.

Likely causes

  1. EEPROM fault
  2. Hydronic box main PCB fault
  3. Main board fuse damaged/blown
  4. Damaged cables between hydronic box main PCB and outdoor unit main PCB
  5. Outdoor unit main PCB fault
  6. Incorrect or abnormal input power supply (N or L)
  7. Insufficient refrigerant caused by refrigerant leakage
  8. Low pressure side blocked by crushed or bent pipe, blocked EXV, or dirty filter
  9. Poor air side heat exchanger heat exchange in heating or DHW mode
  10. Insufficient water flow rate in cooling mode
  11. Outdoor main PCB fault (last resort)

Where to start

  1. Verify refrigerant system EEPROM is not connected properly. If yes, ensure the EEPROM is connected properly. If no, replace refrigerant system main PCB.
  2. Verify refrigerant system EEPROM is connected properly.
  3. Check main board fuse for damage after ruling out address code issue

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
