Grant Aerona R290 fault 7
Pump over-temperature protection
Heat pumpWhat it means
Pump over-temperature protection has activated; pump will re-start after ambient temperature resumes to operational range.
Likely causes
- Ambient temperature outside pump operating range
- Poor pump performance
- Fuse is burnt out
- Connection to PCB is loose or disconnects
- Pump failure
- Too low voltage
- Pump rotors are stuck
- Gas in the pump
- Inlet pressure too low
- Flow regulators or restrictors fitted in circuit
- Valves not fully open causing flow restriction
- External electrical isolator switched to OFF position
- Heat pump switched OFF at the controller
- No demand from heating system controls
- Outdoor temperature too high to call heat pump on (weather regulated zones)
- Active error code present on controller
- Outside air temperature at or below 6°C
- System water temperature at or below 6°C
- Outdoor temperature too high for weather compensated zones to call heat pump
- Active error code on controller display
- Insufficient flow rate through primary circuit
- PWM circulating pump not modulating correctly
- Blockage or air in primary circuit
- Pump fault or blockage causing low flow
- External electrical isolator switched OFF for extended period during cold weather
- Outdoor air temperature (T4) below 7°C combined with low return (TA) or flow (TB) water temperature below 6°C
Where to start
- Check ambient temperature at pump location
- Verify pump operating temperature range
- Check inlet water pressure

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
