Midea M-Thermal Arctic HT R290 Mono fault H6

DC fan motor protection

Heat pump

What it means

Protects the DC fan motors from strong winds and abnormal power supply conditions. Triggered when fan speed continues below 50rpm for more than 40S from set fan step>0, or fan speed is lower than 50rpm for 3S during normal operation.

Likely causes

  1. Fan connection cables disconnected or misconnected
  2. Fan motor failed
  3. Inverter PCB failure
  4. Fan speed less than 50rpm for more than 40S with set fan step>0
  5. Fan speed lower than 50rpm for 3S during normal operation
  6. Strong wind affecting fan rotation
  7. Abnormal power supply to fan motor

Where to start

  1. Power off the unit and check if the fan connection cables are disconnected or misconnected; if yes, reconnect the cables correctly
  2. Use a digital multimeter to measure the resistance between each two of fan terminals; if the resistance is <10 Ohm, fan motor failed - replace the fan
  3. Power off the unit and identify whether inverter PCB failed (refer to Appendix: Guide for identifying inverter PCB failure); if yes, replace the inverter control box

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
